NMR and MRI at ultra - low magnetic fields ( Title )
نویسندگان
چکیده
Laser polarized Xe and a high-Tc Superconducting QUantum Interference Device (SQUID) are used to obtain magnetic resonance images in porous materials at a magnetic field of 2.3 mT, corresponding to a Larmor frequency of 27 kHz. Image resolution of 1 mm is obtained with gradients of only 1 mT/m. The resolution of xenon chemical shifts in different physicochemical environments at ultra-low fields is also demonstrated. Details of the circulating flow optical pump ing apparatus and the SQUID spectrometer are presented.

On a ghost artefact in ultra low field magnetic resonance relaxation imaging.
Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) are widely used techniques across numerous disciplines. While typically implemented at fields >1T, there has been continuous interest in the methods at much lower fields for reasons of cost, material contrast, or application. There have been numerous demonstrations of MR at much lower fields (from 1μT to 1mT), the so-called u...
متن کاملMicroscopic investigation of the resonant mechanism for the implementation of nc-MRI at ultra-low field MRI
In this paper the possible use of the resonant mechanism between some spectral components of the neuronal activity and the spin dynamics in ultra-low field MRI experiments--for the implementation of the nc-MRI techniques and proposed by Kraus et al., 2008--is investigated by means of "realistic" simulations of the neuronal activity of a modelled neuronal network. Previously characterized digita...
متن کاملOverhauser-enhanced magnetic resonance elastography.
Magnetic resonance elastography (MRE) is a powerful technique to assess the mechanical properties of living tissue. However, it suffers from reduced sensitivity in regions with short T2 and T2 * such as in tissue with high concentrations of paramagnetic iron, or in regions surrounding implanted devices. In this work, we exploit the longer T2 * attainable at ultra-low magnetic fields in combinat...
متن کاملAn Overhauser-enhanced-MRI platform for dynamic free radical imaging in vivo.
Overhauser-enhanced MRI (OMRI) is an electron-proton double-resonance imaging technique of interest for its ability to non-invasively measure the concentration and distribution of free radicals. In vivo OMRI experiments are typically undertaken at ultra-low magnetic field (ULF), as both RF power absorption and penetration issues-a consequence of the high resonance frequencies of electron spins-...
متن کاملRotatable Small Permanent Magnet Array for Ultra-Low Field Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Instrumentation: A Concept Study
OBJECT We studied the feasibility of generating the variable magnetic fields required for ultra-low field nuclear magnetic resonance relaxometry with dynamically adjustable permanent magnets. Our motivation was to substitute traditional electromagnets by distributed permanent magnets, increasing system portability. MATERIALS AND METHODS The finite element method (COMSOL®) was employed for the...
